The horror shifts from psychological to survival-horror proper. The Dark Place is a Lynchian hellscape of looping corridors, shadow enemies, and cryptic TV broadcasts. Saga’s sections are more True Detective meets Resident Evil 2 —tense forest walks, deranged cultists, and a murder board that lets you profile suspects. The writing is sharp, unsettling, and occasionally hilarious (the musical level in the Dark Place is a showstopper).
