Unlike digital archiving, which erases physical decay, Kinoshita’s method highlights the impossibility of perfect preservation. Her resin often contains tiny air bubbles or slight discolorations, and over time, the resin itself will yellow. She embraces this. “A fossil is not the animal,” she notes. “My work is not the memory. It is the shape of the absence.”
