Set a few years after the events of the acclaimed 1985 miniseries, the 1987 sequel finds Anne Shirley (played to perfection by Megan Follows) at a pivotal crossroads in her young life. Now a bright and imaginative young woman in her late teens, she has put her grand ambitions on hold. Having forsworn the prestigious Avery Scholarship to Queen's College, Anne has dedicated herself to teaching in the one-room schoolhouse of Avonlea and helping the aging Marilla Cuthbert (Colleen Dewhurst) manage the Green Gables homestead.
