Los Kjarkas' music is a vibrant tapestry of traditional Andean sounds. They masterfully perform a variety of folkloric styles, including the saya , caporal , tuntuna , huayno , and carnavales . Their signature sound is built upon a rich palette of traditional instruments: the charango (a small Andean stringed instrument), quena (Andean flute), zampoña (panpipes), ronroco (a larger charango), and the bombo (a large drum).

Beyond this, the group has left an indelible mark by founding two music schools: the "Musical School of Kjarkas" in Lima, Peru (1993), and "La Fundación Kjarkas" in Ecuador (1994), dedicated to teaching traditional Andean music.
